got back to working on it again a few days ago, finished pulling the timing chain stuff out of it and pulled the cam on the bad side off. 4 bent intake valves, my HO engine also has a few bad intake valves but i dont know what from. I know the HO engine will need repairs before its can run so I am posting add's in a few local forums I frequent looking for a good runner before I start rebuilding one that I have. also phoning local wreckers this week. wont buy anything though without pulling the valve covers to see how dirty it is inside.

you cant really tell how badly the guides are worn without pulling the front cover off right?

I am at least having fun taking this appart in vehicle learning how this engine is assembled. looking at the engine bay it looks like if it wasn't for not wanting to disconect the A/C it would be easy to pull the engine unbolting the upper rad support with the hood latch in it, not sure if removing the front bumper would help with not having to lift as high or not.

discecting a vehicle to figure out how you get at stuff when you have all the time in the world is so much more fun than having to figure it out when you have to get it running to drive to work the next day haha.

There really isn't a good way to see if the guides are worn or not, the only thing you can do is pop the valve cover off and try to look at it as best as you can.
