Question Too Lean (P0171)

Hey guys just looking for a little advice.
I'm in the process of clearing out codes on my 2001 4.7 4X4 with 125k. I'm finally down to 1 (at the moment) P0171, too lean. I have swapped out the O2's both pre and post cat, swapped out the MAP sensor and did new Champions. The O2's were from a local dealer and are OEM. From what I can figure I'm left with either a faulty pre cat O2? or somthing going on with my fuel pump. I have also swapped out the power steering switch that did have signs of fluid in it.

I will also add that I am getting a few misfires and a little stutter off and on. My local shop wants to swap out my #1 and #4 coil packs, then redo the pre cat 02 and possible change the 1 and 4 plugs ( cylinder 1 and 4 are the ones misfiring) then possibly change the pump if there is a pressure issue.

Sooo just looking for some advice from you long time owners.

Thanks

FYI, i've seen misfire codes for opposite side cylinders pop up before. Ask them to run a compression test. Keep in mind that when you erase the memory you also reset the misfire monitor and cat monitors. They have to enable again which requires normal running and driving.

Can I ask, did you overheat the engine recently?

Nope... didn't overheat as far as I know... no knocks or pings either. Just what I mentioned new o2 and map. At least my o2 codes have gone away. Also fuel consumption is up as one may suspect with the truck trying to dump more and more fuel to make up for the lean.

P0171 Fuel System Lean Bank 1/1

Possible Causes

INTERMITTENT CONDITION
RESTRICTED FUEL SUPPLY LINE
FUEL PUMP INLET STRAINER PLUGGED
FUEL PUMP MODULE
O2 SENSOR
O2 SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
O2 SENSOR HEATER OPERATION
TPS VOLTAGE GREATER THAN 0.92 VOLTS WITH THROTTLE CLOSED
THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR SWEEP
MAP SENSOR OPERATION
ECT SENSOR OPERATION
ENGINE MECHANICAL PROBLEM
FUEL FILTER/PRESSURE REGULATOR (HIGH)

PCM

Being that you have a #1 misfire and it's on bank one, I would concentrate on that cylinder. Run compression and leak down. Watch your O2 sensors from startup to warm up and compare banks, response time, voltages, etc.... Go from there.
