2000 Durango Questions
Hello..This is my first post here, so please be gentle.
I have a couple of questions about my 2000 Dodge Durango SLT. One is primarily cosmetic and the other is functional.
I have tried the search function of this forum, but since I am not too familiar with it, I don't know if I have used the correct parameters. So please excuse me if the questions here have been asked before.
First, the cosmetic problem. Today, when I filled up with gas, the gas filler door fell off in my hand. In looking at it, I can see where the bracket has apparently rusted off at the weld behind the body panel. There is no obvious rust anywhere else on the vehicle that I can see. Can the door be reattached somehow? Or do I need to start looking for a billet type cover? I'm not into the chrome stuff, so if I have to go with an aftermarket billet type door, I prefer black. Even a flat black would be OK with me since the truck is black.
The second problem is that I get no heat to the floorboard. All of the vents and the defroster work well though. I've been told that it could be the diverting door. If this is the case, is it something that a person with ordinary mechanical skills could fix or is it going to be one of those $200+ dealership things for a $20.00 part? Also, Can you guys tell me if this would be vacuum operated or electrically operated.
Any help that you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Jim

Looks like the actuator is vacuum part number 04462694 and it is on the floor board just to the passenger side of center. If in fact it is the blend door you can get under there and check it's operation to ensure that's the issue because there is some Mode Door Levers that could be the issue part number 04734719AB.
You should be able to fix the issue if that is all it is.

Jsears,
Welcome. Excellently constructed first post. I also have a 2000 D so I have a special place in my heart for the 00s and for quality posts in the forum.
On the fuel door, just go pick one up at the junk yard and you will be set. If you find one the same color of your D, even better. You could probably get one for $5 there. Take the tools you used to remove the rest of yours and you will be set to take one off at the yard.
Good luck!
