Default Bent Liftgate from changing supports

I don't see much on this subject...

In the process of changing a stuck liftgate support when I unscrewed the stuck support the other side had more power than I anticipated and bent the lift gate.

The liftgate is visibly off center now. With both supports removed you can see in the photo attached the crooked liftgate.

Are there any home remedies available anyone can think of to adjust the liftgate back to a closing position? Obviously the latch is off center and will not close. If not what kind of mechanic would fix this?

I'm guessing your hinges are bent/sprung. Any body shop could repair. Or a couple of guys and new hinges?

Replace the hinges, you and a buddy should be able to do this. Personally I would take off the lift shocks to do this.

I have been leaning towards replacing the hinges.

Any "at home" tricks or tips for stabilizing the rear hatch door while removing the hinges?

Seems like there may be an easy chance at doing more damage if the liftgate hatch door is not stabilized.

i have never done it, but i would say your best bet is to just remove the hatch.

Make sure you have a buddy with a long attention span thats all I can tell you since I've never done this personally.
