Default 4.7 Quiet exhaust option.

Yesterday my fiance was on her way to work in the durango, she said all the sudden it got loud.. So when i got home i checked it out and it turns out the factory muffler is coming apart from the inside..

My question is, What is a good quiet muffler that i can replace this with? I'm just looking to put it on in place on the factory exhaust pipe. Its probably going to be temporary till i can get the whole exhaust done so keep that in mind. I will probably go with a single 3" with a very quiet borla muffler or something of that sort.

So any suggestions on something quiet would be greatly appreciated

Personally, I think it would be a question for a muffler shop. We are more into performance and grunt instead of factory. Labor should be only around $60 to install, at least my last one was.

Well im a welder and can weld better than the exhaust shops around here. Im looking for a performance muffler that is quiet/er than the usual flowmaster and whatnot.

I like my Magnaflow 24" I have, it is a lot more quite then Flowmaster, a straight through design with no obstructions, and has a nice grunt. But mine is a 24" length size and is a 5X11 Oval Body part number 12587 but these trucks are 2 different things.

Magnaflow gets louder as you go down in size meaning a 18" is louder then 20", and 20" is louder then 22", and 22" is louder then 24" in length. Also, remember the larger the overall width the more media so lesser loudness and tone.

I go hunting and it is not too loud to scare everything away, yet if you stomp on it people will look because it sounds real good, just not loud, at least the larger one. I think your OEM is a center input and a off center outlet at 2.5" pipe, if so I would look in here: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/universalmuffler.asp and find what will work for you. Again, the larger the body more quite it will be, but you might be able to find exactly what you need.

My D had a piece of crap Cherry-bomb muffler on it when I first got it and man did that thing suck!
Lots of noise and it ran like crap, to put it nicely.

Well I went and had a new exhaust put on and had a Flowmaster series 70 installed.
The 70 is a triple chamber and unlike Dynomax it has no fiberglass in it.
The glass will slowly burn out and the muffler will become louder as it ages.

The entire set-up cost me about $300 installed but it sounds really nice.

Low tone with just a little rumble, runs much better through out the band and never wakes the neighbors.
My wife complained about the initial cost but I've never been sorry I did it.
