No it should have holes in it. Dodge has a special tool that goes in those holes to hold it while you take the fan off.

+1... i used the strap wrench and the bfh and bfw. there are holes in mine. the tool cost a lot and isn't worth it for a one time job. the tool would cost more than my water pump did

Dirtrango....not to change the subject here, but I see that you're getting 17.5 MPG average. Are most of your miles on the highway? I've read that these things are lucky to average 14 or 15, with a mix of city/highway driving, which means that mine will get little use, if I can't make it do any better than that.

i get about 14 city and 17 or 18 highway. the trick with these is when accelerating is to try to keep your rps at about 2000 and dont lead foot it

+1 about the 2k rpms. I've gotten mine to just about where yours is at search for mileage.

brhordes, if you do a search you will get a full list of mpg results, but i usually get around 16-17 around town, and as high as 20 on the highway, i however have the 4.7 (im not sure what engine you have)

It's the 360, but to be completely honest, I'd rather have the 4.7 and the 20 mpg.

Anybody know what the compression ratio is in these things, and whether there's room to increase efficiency by changing pistons and going with 10 or 10.5 to 1 squeeze, if it isn't already?

Yes the majority of my driving is highway but in the morning you could call it a parking lot.

And as SRCH said drive keeping the rpm under or around 2000 and you can get better mpg's
