Well at the time I was in the high school auto tech program and the instructor is a certified gm tech who works at one of the dealerships and knew immediately, but it was funny to watch the kid who owned it to figure it out (no freebies in that class)

Thanks guys. ADUKART. LOL. Went to tow it home with a friend helping me and we decided to tap on the starter with a hammer while trying to turn it over. Yes, the starter is on the driver side, and yes, it started to move and then turned over and started. Picked up a new starter earlier on my way home from work and will put that in tomorrow. Interested to see if the starter was causing any extra load on the battery. I did go ahead and replace the battery about 2 weeks ago because I was concerned that there was something the matter with the old one due to the starter working ok for a week or two at a time. Thanks a lot and will give a report once the starter is replaced tomorrow.

Glad you've got it figured out. I wanted to add, sometimes a start will get a loose connection, either on the terminal, or inside. I've taken apart many starters, and was able to repair the vast majority of them, especially Chevy starters. Dodges always seemed to get too hot from the exhaust, causing the field coils to get weak and the starter to drag. Not sure how different they are now, or if you'd even want to bother tearing it apart and checking it out, just thought I'd mention a couple of these things.

Sounds like a classic starter, but without hearing the relay under the hood in the PDC I would replace it also.

Thanks again. Searched PDC. Power Distribution Center. Found diagram and starter relay. Getting ready to raise it up and put it on stands. If all goes well with starter, I will go get a new relay afterwards.
