Default 99 durango problems

i have a 99 5.2l durango that is getting about 130 miles to a full tank and smells like fuel it also has a little bit of a rough idle when sitting at stop lights i have replaced the plugs and wires and cap i also had a bad injector that has been replaced if anyone has any ideal what they think it might be please let me know




i have read around that it could be the o2 sensor or map sensor but im not sure i dont really know much about durangos

Sounds like the fuel delivery system is in a "limp home" mode and running extremely rich. Isn't it throwing any codes? My guess would be MAP sensor, but that's because I've had this happen to me (not on a durango) and that was the problem. Unfortunately, it was on a Volvo, and the sensor cost over $500. Needless to say, I got rid of the car very soon. Yours should cost under $100.

That's like....5 miles a gallon, buddy. Jesus, that'd make me cry like a little girl.

usually a rich condition is a bad pre-cat oxygen sensor (this controls the mixture in closed loop)

that is where i would start, especially if its not throwing a code since the o2 sensors dont always throw codes.

+1 Sharps

Replace the pre-O2 sensor and reset the PCM. Also ensure you use Champion Copper plugs (yes the cheap ones) and gap them to .040 before installation.
