Default XM Radio

I got a xm satellite radio today. Anyone got any advice on where and how to run the antenna wire for the best results? I think I want it to got out the back hatch and onto the roof.it would be hidden on the outside then for the most part so some ahole doesn't walk past and ripe it off.

Geez, I didn't know you had to have a separate antenna wire for those things. But if you have to worry about some ******* walking by and ripping it off, I'd consider a move to a nicer area

I'm perfectly happy with an AM radio, personally.

At home I ain't to worried about it but when I'm at work in different cities at steel mills and bigger construction sites is when I'm worried about it. I live out in the country, better chance of a critter chewing on it there than someone messing with it.

those antennae are just little square boxes, no? If so I'd just put it on the corner of the dashboard and let it receive the signal through the windshield. The glass shouldn't affect the line of sight

Thats odd. A lot of newer cars have the antenna for the satellite radio on the dash. GPSs pick up their signal through the windshield also.
If I were you I'd try moving it around on the dash (keeping it as close to the front as possible) and try to find a place where is gets good signal. If it doesn't get good signal anywhere on the dash you could try running it up to the top of the windshield and put it against the glass.

I ran my antenna for my Sirius up the side of the headliner, out the back hatch and up on the roof on the corner. Never have an issue with reception. I have it there year round and even a foot of snow sitting on it didn't really seem to affect the reception much. The average person doesn't even know it's there. IIRC that's even how Sirius tells you to route it.

On my cars though I like the antenna in the rear package shelf, only because on my Durango I had cracked an antenna housing somehow, and water would get in it and kill the signal until it dried out. Had the antenna replaced and haven't had an issue since, however.

I have mine in the back also. its been mounted there since last January when i got the truck with no issues.. the wire comes in the back hatch and down the headliner to the front where it goes down the right piller and come out with the factory radio connections.... I have had Sirius/XM since 2006 (Sirius till the merger) and never had a issue with antenna being messed with and i have seen my share of high risk construction sites...here's a pic of the antenna....
