This isn’t your exact box but the concept is pretty much the same, even on my ’66 bug (I just adjusted it a few months ago). The only thing you need to make sure of is that you don’t over tighten the screw. If you do the wheel will be too tight, won’t auto center after turning, and increase wear on the worm gear in the box. So just make slight adjustments (about ¼- ½ turn increments) then drive it.

Oh man, I had one of those! Brings back some great college memories of seeing how much "cargo" (read that as beer!) we could cram into it along with passengers!
