Replaced the plugs with new and dry ones. No difference. I tried the pedal to the floor also and no luck.

How many miles on that engine?

I'm wondering if maybe it might have jumped time.
Although I would think that it would most likely backfire if that was the case but it sure seems like we are running out of obvious problems.

About 120,000 miles. It started and ran for a few minutes and then died again. It's dark now so will try again in the morning.

Did you fill up recently? Happened to me last year with bad gas. Mine actually started with staring fluid directly into the tb though.

Has about a quarter of a tank. Gas looked good when we filled a jar off the fuel rails.

hmmm, when it started for a second and died, what did you do right before that, and what were you doing when starting it?

Put the key in turned it and it started. Drove around the block and it died right about the place it started. Didn't really do anything different then the other times, except changed the plugs. Ran about 2 -3 minutes and hasn't started since.

Okay I figured it out. After another frustrated day with no results, we went out tonight to see if anything was shorting out. White my son in law tried to start it I stuck my head under the hood in darkness. I saw a very faint arc. Getting a flashlight I noticed it was the coil wire. Not a full spark but a tiny little glow. Must have been just enough to not let the plugs get a hot enough spark, but still a spark. Put a small screwdriver handle under the wire to raise it up and truck started right up. drove great aroung the block. Tomorrow we'll replace the coil and plug wires and should be good to go. Thanks again for all the help and suggestions.
