I saw this electroluminescent gauge face on ebay and was wandering if anyone has ever tried it. If so, do you like it? Is is easy to install? (I've had the clear plastic gauge cover off but have never been any further into the instruments.) Is it worth the money?

If it will work alright and won't be too much of a bear to install I'm considering buying it. It's shiny and blue so naturally I'm wanting it lol.

thanks

my dads 09 dak came with a dash thats like that (back lit up and numbering dark) and i dont like it, it hurts my eyes to look at too long, and IMO makes the numbers harder to read at a glance in the dark.

my advice is to borrow a car that has one (or something similar) in it already and see what you think before spending the money, it may not work well for you and you dont want to waste money if thats the case.

Now that I think about it it probably would be annoying. I think I might just do that mod that old school did and swap in some blue lights.

thanks

old school's mod I'm referring to:

Yeah that looks like it would get annoying, would be cool at first, then you would just complain about it lol. Of course, I like the color blue on your D and I like everything match lol. I think the way old_school went would be your way to go! Take a pic with it lit up when you are done and share!

I'll be sure to get some pics when I get around to doing it. I want to order some leds first so I only have to take it out once.

Good idea, I think blue LEDs in your current cluster set up would be pretty cool looking, wish I would have thought of that idea!

I believe you would just use clear led's, the GEN I Durangos have a blue film built into the cluster so when you apply yellow light to the blue film it ends up green like our stock Durangos. So what I've read is you would use just white lights to end up with blue.

I wish they had a blue coating, then I wouldn't have to change the bulbs out and sand the coating off to get blue dials. The coating on the back is green and the bulbs are white so green light shines through.

I currently run one similar. Fairly simple to install (well other than matching up the needles after removing/applying the gauge face). Mine came with an adjustable **** to adjust the level of illumination. The adjustable box is avail if not supplied. If i still had mine connected and not in storage i'd take a few snaps but i have so many altercations to the dash i dont feel like running the wires around.
