heat issues need diagram
That_guy,
he said his front heat is lukewarm at best esome days other hot (maybe he said others cold, cant remember) which tells me system has air, except his engine isnt warming up which tells me like shrp said, the t-stat may be defective or possibly installed backwards, not sure, but if its in correctly, i would exchange the t-stat, if that doesnt fix it, i would replace the little tiny sensor next to the t-stat housing...

you're right about that for the front, but he also mentioned that his rear heat is cold
the rear heat blows nothing but cold air. so i torn into the rear today and found the common broken stop and broken flap fixed the flap with superglue and some thin wire wrapped around it to reinforce it. then ran a drywall screw thru where the stop broke off. that fix worked great but now i notice that i'm not getting hot water back there at all
i'll see what i can do about getting an actual coolant temp tomorrow. but since we bought it the gauge has never gotten much higher then just over the first line.that was with the old t stat and the new one but i can change it again.i'm sure i installed it corectly spring into into the intake but no offence taken we've all made dumb mistakes before. today was above 30 and the front heat worked great but still no warm air from the rear. i will try to post a pic of the Y tomorrow i'm pretty sure it is the return line from the rear that is cold so maybe just a plugged up rear heater core. i plan to flush the cores in a couple of days still need to thaw my garden hose first. as far the aux water pump from what i've read it only runs at idle and low speeds and only if the temp control is set to over 60% hot but at higher rpms the engine water pump does all the work. both lines at the aux pump are hot but niether under the truck are even warm. i have 2 more days of hunting then getting her good heat is my first priorty.
yea the auxillary pump does not run very often, at idle when the truck is in a certain temp range, and you need to be moving below a certain speed, once the truck is up to temp it pretty much doesnt run. (i have a post around somewhere with the factory service manual quoted explaining the conditions)
Im having a simular problem but mine is an 02 durango 5.9 ive bled the system and my temp stays just above first line heats hot any higher cold heat but the needle doesnt move and the coolant keeps getting all over my motor cause its spewing out of the overflow tank somehow by the looks any idea how i can stop it from spewing and making smoke i need this rig running right cause i need to useit to pick my son up
