Default 4x4 switch lights just flash

My 2002 Durango 4.7L with 4WD has a problem and any advise would be much appreciated. Lights on 4WD switch simply flash when car first started and is cold. Service 4WD light then comes on instrument panel. Turning switch does nothing whether in neutral or not. After car runs for 5 minutes or so, all is well. Took to dealer for $100 diagnostic and no codes came up. They kept overnight and saw problem in the morning when car was cold. They diagnosed as Transfer Case Control Module (TCC<) -- $650 installed. I tried re-setting everything by disconnecting battery for a few minutes -- no luck. Any ideas? If it is TCCM, any suggestions where to purchase a new or rebuilt one? Thanks!!

i would check electrical connections before replacing it, but the tccm is where i would be looking as well, unfortunatley, check ebay for a company that sells them, they sell PCMs that way i dont see why not TCCMs

Get under the truck and find the wires going to the T-case. Pull the harness off the T-case motor and check for corossion, also fiddle with it. Now plug it back in and see how she works. Also you might need a fluid change. It take ATF+4 fluid about 2 quarts or so. I will tell you to use Valvoline ATF+4 Fully Synthetic in it.

Default Thanks!

REALLY appreciate the advice. I'm on it and will report results. I should've mentioned that -- at the same time this problem came up -- I had a problem with transmission shifting eratically and Dodge Dealer replaced a control module that controls engine speed (located under the hood). Also, when they diagnosed this 4x4 switch problem, they noted a leak in transfer case and added close to a quart of fluid.
