That's what I had assumed, but better safe than sorry. Lol I don't want all my transmission fluid pouring out all over me. Should the sensors come out by hand or will I need a specific size open ended wrench?

lol that would be bad, i know the output sensor only looses a couple of drops of fluid, not sure about the input sensor, never had to take that one out.

this sounds like a classic Throttle Position sensor issue. I had this similar years back and the dealer had my truck for almost a month and cannot figure out the cause. After finding this solution from dodgeforums, I replaced the TPS myself as they cannot do it if they cannot find the error. Now my truck no longer surges. Could have been a lazy TPS
