4.7L engine replacement ???

5.2 will be coming from a 98 dakota donor.
A 98 5.2l into a 01 body with a 45rfe trans a possiblity??? I'll be taking the engine, ECU and wiring harnass. Its a complete donor truck should i be taking anything else that will make life easier??

nope the 5.2 or 5.9 will NOT bolt up the 45, you will need to get a new transmission if you decide to put a 5.2 or 5.9 into the truck.
you would need PCM, Wire harness, engine transmission, engine mounts (not the same) trans mounts, and just about everything else attached to the engine.
i also would not expect the 98 PCM to communicate correctly w/ the newer dash cluster (i can NOT confirm this tho)

sooo basically i'd have to take the complete drivetrain from the 98 and put it in the 01? crap...
well on to the next question. what are some good bearings to get for the 4.7?...lol...seriously tho?
Also what is the correct idle for the 4.7l?

4.7 should idle btwn 500 and 600 rpm when warm w/ the a/c off, idk where in NJ you are, but if you are currently driving the truck id be willing to offer some diagnostic advice if your close enough
So here's where i currently stand...have a 02 4.7 available to me. Its setup for the NGC system. The D is setup for the JTEC system. What are some of my options for switching over?
Could i switch engine harness to the one with the four plugs to fit in to a NGC PCM? Or am I stuck switching Tone rings on both the cam and crank back over to the 16 tooth ring??
In other words what would be the easier option. Changing the engine to match the truck?...or changing the truck to match the engine?...

would the crankshaft have to be removed in order to get to the tone ring?
.....yup a litte beyond the desire to pull the crank right about now. So in order to switch the truck over to the NGC system I would need the wire harness, PCM, TCM. Any other things to make this work?
