Default brakes help

i just bought a 2002 durango and the brakes are way too touchy. it is very easy to lock up the tires and you have to be careful to not push too hard on the brake pedal, what would cause this?
bad pads, rotors, air in the lines??

Try cleaning the brakes with cleaner first. If that doesn't work then I would get the lines flushed. You might have some air in the lines.

you could also have deteriorating front brake lines, they go from the inside out, and when the inside goes it allows the fluid to flow TO the pads under pressure, but it will retain some pressure in the system, hence less pedal travel to get brakes (this can also cause the brakes to drag and overheat the rotors)

it could also be a rear drums adjustment.
