Default Improving MPG?

I just bought a 2001 Dodge Durango 5.9L. Not that I'm complaining, cause I bought an 8 cyl cause I need the power to pull a big boat. But I was wondering, if anyone has done what I'm thinking about doing, and what kind of change they are seeing. I was thinking about adding the K&N ram filter system, and changing to synthetic type oil? Was considering Amsoil? or like maybe Mobil synthetic. Any thoughts on this?

You should see an improvement in your mileage wiith the K&N and synthetic oil. Amsoil and Mobil 1 are both excellent products. You may also want to consider running synthetic (Amsoil) gear oil for an even bigger gain...[sm=smiley4.gif]

I added a cai off of ebay to my wifes 03 5.9 durango and she gets about 2 mpg more than stock. stock mpg13 after cai 15mpg. i've got more mods to do,magnaflow cat back, throttle body spacer, mobil one oil, power pulleys, remove stock belt driven fan. I hopr to get her mpg up to 17=18plus,i hope. My 03 ram quad cab 4.7 gets 18-20mpg hwy. if i driver conseritive ,which is hard to do.

You should see at least 1-2 mpg with a K and N, it got 1-2 better on a Hemi Ram.
