Default Driving with P0720 code?

I was just wondering whether or not it was ok to drive with the P0720 code on for this week before i replace the output speed sensor? Is it bad for the transmission at all and would it be better if I replaced this sooner. If needed my truck is a 2000 5.9L 4WD. Thank you in advance.

P0720-LOW OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR - RPM ABOVE 15 MPH
the truck definitely wont shift correctly with this code being thrown, if i were you i would simply replace the sensor, its a 5 minute job and its not an expensive part.

Thanks for the advice, do you know the part number on that? I guess I will just run down to advance and see if they have one in stock.

this is the mopar number from the parts manual for a 2002 5.9, it is probably the same part but i would just tell them what you have and what you need at the part store

Fixed it! Thanks for the help, it is the same part number. Just out of curiosity, I installed a superchips tune in the truck two weeks ago and was wondering if that may have something to do with the sensor failing? It was fine and then just out of the blue it threw the code. Just concerned if I continue using it if things will continue to break, it is an older truck and its my daily driver so the less problems the better!

no the superchips will not be the cause of the sensor going bad. the sensors have a lifespan and they just eventually die, the lifespan will be different for each sensor.
