Default 5.9 eng part identify..?

Please forgive me if I come across like a tard in asking this question....
On my 2002 Durango w/ the 5.9 Liter engine, when looking directly at the engin, on the right side valve cover there is a "part" that has black rubber hose going out of it and into the block (i think) just below the throttle body. You can here it pumping something thru that black rubber hose..? What is that part..?

Thanks,
Stacy

It sounds to me like it's your PCV breather hose. The hose goes from the PCV (top of the driver side valve cover) into the side of the intake manifold?

Sounds right, at least for the 2002 year.

+2. Change it with every oil change. They are about $4.

Thank You for the responses .. I sort of figured it was the PCV...Is it supposed to be noisy...mine is very "noisy" for lack of a better term, meaning you can hear it pumping what ever it pumps..?

Thanks,
Stacy

Well it doesn't pump, it is simply a little round BB in the end of a coupler. It keeps the engine oil out as it acts like a oil check valve and removes the blow by and various gases from the engine. They are supposed to rattle, but I would just replace it and call it a day for a few bucks.
