Default 2003 Dodge Durango dies out

2003 Dodge Durango dies out at complete stop. Check engine light is not on. Changed air filter, hoses, and plugs. Also cleaned the IAC, ran good a couple days, then started to feels like engine is going to die out if at a stop too long. It does start up at first crank. What else can I do?

it could also be a weak battery or bad battery connections. disconnect the battery and clean any corrosion or dirt off the connections.

Have the battery tested at autozone or advance, its free. Your tps may be bad Though

I have this same problem, even with a new battery and clean connections...so I'm very interested.

Have you done the cap, rotor, and plug wires yet?

+1 on the tps I had very similar issues on my old Dakota it would drive fine but if I stopped at a stoplight the rpms would just drop untill it died. I wouldent think its the battery because if it starts fine then it should easily have enough of a connection and power to run. The cap and rotor is also a good idea but if that were bad u it would run bead at all rpms not just idle and if its a 4.7 then there is no cap and rotor so that would be completely eliminated.

this is where you would be wrong, starting the truck pulls ALOT of juice out of the battery, meaning that it is drained afterwords, if the connections are a little dirty or not making 100% connection it will charge slower and have issues at idle where the alternator doesnt put out quite enough juice to power everything, once the rpms come up a little and the alternator output climbs you will have enough juice and the problems will go away.

"It starts at first crank" I can garuntee u would notice a sluggish crank at least if the battery had issues. U kinda disproved yourself on that one because if the alternator is either not putting out enough or connections are bad and not charging the battery properly then when it dies it would most likely not have enough juice in the battery to restart without a jump because as u said starting draws A LOT of power and if the batter can't hold enough charge to idle the truck then it surely won't start it

But, if your driving it does charge the battery, as long as there is some charge while giving it throttle you may not notice, and if it dies immediately then it doesn't really kill the battery. Trust shrpshtr he is smart with our D's. Not to mention a lot of issues have came down to a bad battery on here. Do a search on it. Most Chrysler products that I have seen love brand new batteries and good batteries, they hate bad batteries. Plus, testing a battery is free, so why not take it to advance or autoZone? With any issue on a vehicle you cannot seem to pinpoint, you try the free troubleshooting first.

U missed the point I was trying to male a little bit if it dies at a stop due to the battery being weak or a bad connection then it surely would not be able to start on the first crank again right after it dies. I trust Shrp and I would not object to testing the battery but I do not think that that is the cause of the issues that were described and melody is having the same problems with a new battery and good connections. And I am already pretty aware of chryslers odd battery related issues my 2000 grand Cherokee experienced a few of them
