Will do, hopefully I will have time to take it apart this week. I plan on getting a throttle body gasket and cleaning that too.

I took the air hat off when I did the plugs and opened the throttle and shined a flashlight down in there, I did not see oil seeping in but it was deffinently dirty in there.

Well a blown plenum gasket would leave oil gathered up in the bottom. Normal engines have normal oil vapor on the inside of the intake, but not large quantity of oil pooled down at the bottom. Besides, 2 quarts in 5K with a motor that has 248K miles on it isn't bad.

The ping is either octane, spark, or plain old worn out parts.

If it really does have sludge, you could have a myriad of problems. Sludge means neglect.
(how long will it take for shrpshtr to scream about the word sludge being used so many times )

samnbendsdad is right, sludge is VERY rare in these trucks and is always caused by neglect, even infrequent oil changes will be more than adequet to keep sludge at bay, if you think you have a sludge problem pull the valve covers and post pics or else im not going to believe it. (sludge is one of the most misdiagnosed problem on these trucks)
