Default Shocks??

Hey guys/gals. Newb here. Picked up a 2003 Durango AWD. Needs shocks. What would be a decent brand? It's my daily driver but I want a stiff set. Thanks.

One word. BILSTEIN. No body roll, very stiff, your D will feel like a truck not a caddy. I just put my second set on the D after 60k of use on the first set and the old ones were still stiff as hell. They are kind of a pain to get into place but you don't have to rip everything apart that the manual says to rip out just get yourself a bottle jack and a pry bar. Remove the wheel and the old shocks. bolt up the top shock, don't tighten it at this point get the shock pushed up into the control arm and slide it off of the jack, then pry it up into positionand secure it. 20 minutes a side tops.

Rancho 5000....PERIOD! If you want stiff Ranchos are it. Not as expensive as Bilstein either

Thank you for the replies. Probably go Ranchos. I should have mentioned price would be important.

I run Procomp with 35" bfgs with no problems.

I would get Bilsteins but they were just way to expensive. Ranchos are the best BUDGET stiffest shocks out there.

I understand working with a budget. Two little boys and a wife constantly in my wallet. I am doing better than most in this economy but I have been in tight spots in the past. I now work 2 jobs for a minimum of 64 hours of work a week so my budget is a little more flexible than others.

I have a 1998 Dodge Durango. It needs new shocks. I plan on doing a little torsion/shackle lift, so I need to know what length or numbers I should be looking for when buying new shocks. Thanks.

Take a tape measure after you lift it. Should be about same length as stock, pick a shock, I run Pro Comp 3000 with my 35" bfgs.
