Electric Fan comes on and stays on when engine started
It used to only come on when the temps got a little hot or the AC is turned on like it's supposed to, now it's on all the damn time and it's wearing the motor out making a nasty whistling noise. Is there another sensor that controls that fan besides the coolant temp or AC?
I don't drive the truck much as it's my wife's ride, so I do not know when this behavior started, I just know when it started making a noise
truck details:
2001 Durango, 4.7, JBA Shorty's and just replaced the radiator this past weekend.

If the AC button is on, the fan will be on.
If the Defrost is on, the fan will be on.
If the vehicle is hot, the fan will be on.
If the Fan Relay underhood in the PDC is bad, the fan will be on. Swap it with the Fog Light Relay to test.
Hope that helps.

+1 with indy...this is usually a coolant temp sensor related problem on other cars that ive delt with, but ive also had it triggered by a bad relay. As long as you can turn the ac on and it works then itll be one of the solutions stated.
Thanks for the replies gentlemen
Turns out the vents were turned to Defrost. Had the wife turn the heater to something other than defrost and the electric fan turned off.
Thanks for the tip about swapping relays as well. That seems like it would come in handy. Also, I know that for my mazda's, when the coolant temp sensor is disconnected the fans come on with ACC power, but did not with the Durango. Is this by design or is there another sensor I'm missing? The coolant sensor I unplugged was the one next to the upper water neck behind the alternator.
Thanks!
