Front Steering/Suspension Squeaking
I have a 2003 Durango that has only 29K miles. However, this past 2 weeks, I've been hearing squeaking noises coming from the front steering or suspension of the durango. I know its not the brakes, I had them checked. The noise usually occurs when the vehicle in or just came out of a turn (doesn't matter how sharp of turn).
Has anyone else experienced this noisy issue?
Thanks.

Check to be certain it's suspension. I just started getting some squeeking up front and I think that I may have a bad idler pulley or the belt tensioner may be loose or failing. I'll have to check this weekend. My Durango has just over 57500 on the clock so I'm not a whole lot of driving ahead of you. I also noticed some noises from the suspension/ball joint area. I hope those were changed already, but I'll need to find out.
My front suspension is also squeaking. But after the ball joint recall was done on my D, the squeaks went away. 3 Weeks later the squeaks came back. Only squeaks when it hits bumps and stuff or when I really bounce the front end real good.
Squeaks aren't as bad in the summer with warm and mild to moderate humidity.
Winter time, very very audible in cold and drier climate.

Mine does not pop when going from P to R. It makes a clang! But that is coming from my transfer case as I have the full time AWD powertrain. Dealer says this is normal.
I called up my dealership about the ball joint recall and maybe if the ball joint could be the issue for noise, but they told me that my durango 03' wasn't apart of the recall, b/c my durango had the new parts in it that didn't need the recall. Has anyone else heard this from their service? Also, I tried to re-duplicate the sound when a tech was in my durango and couldn't get it to make the noise. I hate it when that happens.
Kensai, the noise occurs too when I'm driving on curvey and bumpy roads.

I remember from another post, it may be the sway bar rubber bushings making the squeak. I had my mechanic spray some liquid silicone spray on all the rubber parts on the suspension and that seems to quiet the noise alot but I know this spray won't last long. May have to have my mechanic put some grease on those bushings and other areas to make it last longer and see what happens. Right now, I cannot really hear the noise much as it is summer and in Dallas with some moderate humidity. But when the winter season arrives and the temps and humidity drops, I will definitely hear the noise.
You may want to run your VIN number at dodge's website to see if there are any recalls that needs attention. This will let you know if you do need the ball joint recall done on your D.
If I remember right, only the 4x4 Durangos/Dakota have a mandatory replacement recall and the 2x4's are only as needed based on inspection on the ball joint recall.

Hi all. I have a 03 durango. Have not had the rcall done yet, or any squeek issues.
I recommend though , for the sway bar bushings, that you remove the bushings
that mount to the front frame. Clean them and apply antiseize lubricant to the inside that
contacts the swaybar. That will git rid of the squeek for a long long time.
