After I got from work today (1 hour drive) I lifted the hood to check trans fluid. Just peeking around I noticed the "radiator" hose pretty "bulged out".

by the time I took a pic not so much. It was just swelled to the right and left of the cap. Any thoughts on if this normal or maybe a tell to a bigger

problem. I have a 2003 D with a 4.7 engine. Thank you

 

your radiator hose could just be old and in need of a replacement. its like hitting a crub with your tire and having it bubble out. it means that your threading on the inside of the rubber was ruptured and the pressure build up from it running hot caused it to bubble out. it should be pretty cheap to replace it. you will just have to re fill it with radiator fluid.

 

As mentioned above its a sign prior to bursting. A couple more hot cycles and you will be stuck on the edge of the road if not slow leak causing overheating and crapping out your block. Get it replaced asap.
