Who has the highest miles on their 1st generation Durango?
Just curious. I bought my 1999 Durango V8 5.2 4x4 in 2006 with 75,000 miles on it and in excellent condition for just $5000!! It had had only one owner, who had taken amazing care of the D. It now has 225,000 and is running pretty well. I haven't had to spend anything on it except for routine oil changes, bj replacement and new tie rods, break pads, and water pump. I wonder how many more miles I can put on it given proper care and maintenance. So, who has the most miles on his/her Durango in this forum?

I think I read somewhere in these forums that someone had made it to 400,000 plus! Waiting for that person to pop in.

1999 5.9 Durango has 186,000 .. I bought it at a junk yard so far i have put 2 doors on it.. upper and lower ball joints, Filter and flush transmission, new heater core , ac condenser, tires. I really need to fix the plenum gasket. I am not sure how someone could afford gas for 400,000 miles in one of these things :D

My 2001 has about 140,000 miles. It's been very reliable. Sure, I did the recall stuff. Main maintenance expense is just changing fluids, filters, plugs, that kind of thing. In fact, I just changed the original battery last year - that's right: 10 years on a battery!
Having said all that, there have been a few problems with the HVAC. The rear temperature control door broke, which I fixed. The front defroster is intermittent (won't always direct air to the defrost vent). I haven't been able to completely fix this, but I know how to persuade it to operate, so it's really just an annoyance (and on my to do list). Biggest problem: Last year the front transmission seal started leaking. I don't recall having a problem like that on any other vehicle - ever. I had the tranny pulled and all seals replaced, had them adjust bands (very little to no adjustment needed) asked them how much clutch material / metal was in the bottom of the tranny pan / magnet: they said almost none. They also replaced the PRNDL switch, which apparently looked to be starting to leak. Everything else is basically original. All accessories, etc. Everything works good. It's a fantastic rig. I think the next thing I'll have to do is a muffler, but I also need to do a brake inspection, but that's just routine. |
my 2001 slt has 100k on it and going strong! no major problems yet knock on wood.

My baby has 120K on it and runs fine... Only problem is that I learned every repair shop's location in this area and made close friends with them since I bought it :D I think I spent $2000 or smth to repair most of the things, but she's still not in perfect shape... I need to spend more. This bitch will cause me to go bankrupt... but no problem, I love her :D

210k on mine. Just minor things 2000 5.9
|
98 with a 5.2. 125,000 and some change. I think I got a good deal. I bought it with 82,000miles. It burned oil bad and had a hard time shifting so they let it go real cheap. Tune up, plenum gasket and a trans filter change runs great.
|
I'm up to 211,XXX. Since I've owned I've replaced both o2s the radiator and the TV Cable linkage. It's ready for tires too, oh and 2 oil changes :-)
|
my 98 5.2 has 178,850 miles on it and i got the thing for $2,500, and within 3 months i have spent just over $3,000 in repairs and parts alone. not including close to a grand for all new tires. 31x10.5x15. still got alot to fix on this d. wish me luck.

Close to160k. Mine has taken out two Fords and given me reasons for fiberglass fenders making room for 35s. Don't cry over price of 31s. Balljointsx2, radiatorx3 one Ford one moron at carwash one at work. Rear springs upgrade due to Focus enima took hitch to windshield. Minor stuff waiting for transmission to fail, bronze on pan magnet since 50k
|
Mine is about to hit the 106,000 mark. Got it in august of 08 with about 63,000. So ive just added 43,000 in almost 4 years. No major repairs...just o2 sensors, balljoints, exhaust, wheel bearings, and a few other small things.

They will definetly last if treated right.

My family has a 2000 4.7 4WD with 111,307 miles on it. We are the original owners. The only things that have been replaced are the power steering switch and the electric fan, in addition to tires and brakes. I didn't really start paying too much attention to the car until 2008 when I got my license and starting driving it, but I am positive there were no major repairs from 2000-2008. It has been in two pretty costly accidents, one of which damaged the radiator which had to be replaced along with repairs to the front end. And the second one just a couple of months ago when a truck backed into it and the rear driver's side door and third row window had to be replaced. Other than that, its been bulletproof. The only thing that isn't great about it are the expensive tires and the gas mileage but we knew it would be expensive when we bought it.

Mileage
Our 1998 5.9L 4X4 SLT is just shy of 347,000. We are on our 2nd alternator and 2nd water pump. We also had to replace the radiator because we had a crack in the plastic. We just replaced the MAP sensor, throttle sensor, IAC, catalytic converter, and idle pulley which were all original parts (not at the same time but within the last 10,000 miles). We have also had to replace driver's side front wheel hub, passenger's front top ball joint, and tensioner pulley. Other than the normal maintenance (oil changes, tire rotation, belts, etc) we've had no major issues! We love our Durango!

220,000 on mine and it runs like a champ! I love the truck.
