Speedmoter don't work
I was told from Advance Auto Parts that my speedmoter don't work cause the speed sensor is bad, They put the test thing they have on it,, I replace the sensor with a new one an my speedmoter still don't work,, Can anybody tell me if there is a fuse or something else that I can check to get the speedmoter to work ??? An yes my check engine light is on an thats why I took it to Advance to let them do the test for me,,
They didn't tell me the code,, Just told me the sensor in trans was bad but I found out today that there is also another sensor on the rearend so I went ahead an ordered it today an will get it next day an will see what happens then,,
And that there is why i don't deal with advance or any chain store for that matter...
Chances are they don't know the code either (or what it means atleast) MOST of the people that work at those type of stores watched an afternoon of the Powerblock on spike, washed up, and now claim to be Master techs for all makes and models. Hell, the manager at our local Advance just hired his 16 y/o son!
While i will agree watching Courtney Hansen, AJ, or Jessi Combs work on a car is pretty hot that is NOT formal education to make you a certified auto tech.
now back to the issue.... There is a speed sensor on the rear axle and there is a trans. output sensor on the back of the trans. IIRC they both have a part in the SPEEDOMETER. with that being said, if indeed it was the trans. output sensor you replaced the first time, then replacing the speed sensor on the rear axle should fix it... if not then i would look into the speedometer itself as in the stepper motor that controls the needle may be shot. that be the case let me know, i may have an extra laying around here that may make its way in the mail and suddenly become yours.
