The things I have read makes it sound like all 12 bolt axles are the same, but anywhere I see axles for sale they do not list a 2000 axle as being compatible with a 99. I have 2 durangos. 1 is a 2000 with a rod knock the other is a 99, which has some noise in the back end. I am trying to figure out if I could switch the axles if necessary. First I am going to try to switch the tires. Also if something is going in the axle can I see it by taking the cover off and inspecting it? I have a feeling it has leaked fluid. Just bought it. All depends. If you have 4x4 in the one your gonna make whole, then you have to match the gear ratios with the front diff. You should be able to find what gear ratio you have by looking in the glove box. If its not 4x4 it will work no matter the ratio but you might have to adjust the speedo if you put a different ratio than what the truck came with stock.
