Blown Upper Radiator Hose
Hi guys,
So I was driving down the and head a pop then I saw a bunch of white smoke coming out of the my hood. I popped the hood only to nice my upper hose had broke into two. I replaced the hose, but now my truck overheats. I filled the resoviour with coolant. Am I missing something? This is a 2002 5.7 Durango. Should the hose be empty when I take the cap off or should there be fluid? UI pured collant directly into the radiator hose and put some in the overflow tank. It was about 1 and half gallons. Should I keep adding to the hose until I see fluid?
Sorry for the nub questions.

Sounds like you have air trapped in the system. When you fill it up you need to let it warm upso that the the thermostat opens and pulls coolant through the upper hose. Also turn the heat up the whole way for a few minutes too with it running.
the upper radiator hose should be FULL when yout ake the cap off, to fill the system you fill the hoses up through that cap and then put some more into the overflow tank, on the 5.2 and 5.9 they will self bleed as you run them, on the 4.7 you need to manually bleed the air from the system. there is a bleeder valve where the hose connects to the block.
