Default 44re to a 46re swap

I will be replacing my transmissiin soon with one from a salvage yard. I have read info saying this swap will work and info saying that it will not. I currently have the 44re. I was just wondering if this swap is possible and what all I would need to make it happen. I know the easiest thing to do would be to just put another 44re in. I just want to know all of my options before I hit the road trying to find a transmission. Thanks

the bolt pattern on the bell housing is the same and everything should be plug and play, but definitley ask mastertech to be sure. He should be on here later if you want to wait or you could pm him like topdog said.

Did you ever get an answer from him.
I'm doing the same swap.

Have a tranny, some people say you need the shift levers from the 46RE some people are saying the levers from the 44RE will work?

Thanks.
