UPDATE!

I put the manual gauge on it and when it was cold and first started it jumped up to 80lbs, when it warmed up to normal temp it is siting around 25-30 lbs at an idle, when I accelerate it jumps to 60lbs then at an idle back down to 25-30.

I took it for a 5 mile drive and at 40MPH (1600RPM), cruising it stays at 55lbs, when i come to a stop to drops down to 20-25lbs. It never drops to 0 as the factory gauge was indicating.

Does that sound normal or a little low?

 

Bump for acceptable oil pressure?

 

factory guage doesnt show true oil pressure if is between 5 and 30 psi factory gauge shows 30 psi.

my mechanical gauge says around 25 at idle once the engine is warmed up, and around 70-75 at cruising speed (on the highway)

your numbers sound pretty good to me (i believe dodge only calls for 5 psi at 'curb idle')

Maybe my sending unit is bad then. The mechanical gauge reads very stable and never drops below 20 psi, the factory gauge is all over the place and drops to 0 quite often which triggers the check gauge light to come on.

 

if you have a mechanical gauge on it that is reading good pressure (mine behaves about the same as yours, so i would say your pressure seems to be about right) i would look at replacing the sending unit and go from there, dont waste your time with aftermarket units, go and buy a MOPAR brand sensor and be done with it. (im speaking from experience here)
