02 durango cannot read codes from scanner
Durango 2002 4.7 L first generation non-can system.
when I plug my actron scanner I can see all the streaming data ,also I can see the pending codes if any as well as all the other functions that the scan tool offer with the exception of DTC codes.
when I click for the codes I get error and the scan tool stop working and need to be disconnected from the car.
the scan tool work fine on all other cars (therefore it cannot be the tool).
the surprising fact is when and without a scanner I do the ignition off ignition on (2-3 times )I am able to see the codes in the mileage display on the dashboard.
the questions are?
Does the PCM send the codes to mileage display using different circuit than the ALDL ? where the scan tool pick up the info ?
do experts agree that maybe one wire on the ALDL is damaged or not completing the ciircuit?
last but not least which wire on the ALDL plug is responsible for displaying the trouble codes???.
on my 02 durango I have a total of 8 wires.
4 wires on each row of the ALDL.
thanks for your input.
