Default Slight play in front wheels

I was rotating the tires and noticed there is maybe 1/16th to a 1/8inch play when moving the tire front to back. I looked through the whole steering set up and it looks like its coming from the steering box. Is this normal or does the steering box need to be adjusted and if so how do I do that?

If you have play in the box then you need a new one. Don't think you can adjust for worn out components.

if you have a steering box there i believe there is an adjustment, if you have rack and pinion the only option is to replace it.

if you have a 98-00 you have a box, if you have a 00-03 you have a rack/pinion (yes 00 could have had either to the best of my knowledge)

Its a 98. The steering wheel wasn't locked maybe that had something to do with it. I will have to try it with the wheel locked.
srch4me thanks for the link I'm definetly saving that.
