Durango Vibration
I have a Durango with 170,000 miles. The vibration seems to start after driving a few miles and will happen at various speeds. I lifted the rear end and the tires(either one) would only turn either way about an inch or two. I allowed it to cool down and afterwards the tires appeared to move freely forward along with the drive shaft but when rotating the tires backward, it appeared that the drive shaft only rotated partially and there were times that the drive shaft didnt rotate at all even with it placed in reverse. Any suggestion?
Thanks,
Pete

if you have the transmission in gear the driveshaft will not rotate when you turn the tires, the transmission must be in nuetral for that to happen.
if you lift the back tires up and spin one of them and it doesnt move w/ the truck in park you have a LSD,(if the trans is in neutral the two tires should spin in the same direction) if you have recently changed the fluid it is possible you forgot to put the friction modifier into the fluid and that is causing the clutches to misbehave and that right there could cause a vibration.
