Default Opinions on My Situation

Here is the situation:
I have a 2000 Durango that has about 266,000 miles on it. Problems with it are: surface rust, exhaust system has rusted out (muffler is only "solid" part left), and A/C doesn't work ($700 part). The car itself is pretty sturdy and the interior is not amazing, but it's decent, speakers were replaced and that's about all that has been replaced inside. This is the car I am currently using.
A couple months ago, I was driving a 1998 Nissan Altima with about 170,000 miles on it with no current problems. A friend got into a bad accident with it and it has been sitting in the impound lot for that amount of time.

Once I get the Altima back should I:
sell the Altima, drive the Durango till it dies and buy a new car
or
sell/scrap the Durango and use the Altima until that dies
Thanks.

Use the money to get your car back. You sound like you have a few issues with the Durango and no money to spend.

Depending on where you are located i would buy the durango to have an extra... I would drive the altima given gas prices..
