Default 4.7 Tranny

Hello all.

I have a quick question. I changed the tranny filter and put new tranny fluid (atf +3) in my Durango. I noticed when I started it up and put it into gear after a few times it started having a ticking noice. This only occurs when I first put it into reverse or into drive. It lasts for approx. 2-3 seconds. It sounds like cards in a bicycles spokes.

I am not sure if it has always done this and I am now just realizing it since I changed the filter and fluid or if there is a problem now.
Any and all comments are appreciated.

Thanks.

You might of put the wrong filter in there. Parts stores have a couple of different filters I know of. Some are for deep pans and some for shallow pans. Your check valve might be stuck open allowing the fluid to back flow out of the torque converter and it has to pump the fluid back through. The clicking sound might be the pump running dry. The problem is the pump starts to turn when the motor is started ... But maybe the valve body is empty in tell you put it in gear then the fluid pushes the air out.[sm=confused06.gif]
