Default Replaced blower motor resistor. Pics inside!

As common as we change our underwear, we know we'll have to live with swapping this darn transistor almost every 5 years (I know I changed mine 5 years ago and now have to change it again) Anyway, last week setting number 2 on the blower gave up. So I opted to change the resistor again. I guess this is the mode I usually use about 90% of the time. Here's some pics.

Tools used: 8mm socket, extension, wrench

Location of the resistor is just underneath the glove compartment

Here's the old resistor still attached to wiring harness

Who ever designed these should have done away with these useless tabs.

Done in about 15 minutes. And all blower speeds work.

I have the same issue as yours only mine has gone out on me 4 times in the past 2 months. Last 2 times it didn't even last 2 trips each one fried on me in only one trip.

Any idea what the underlying issue is?

I posted a thread on here a while back about that - never replaced it - but.. pretty sure you need to swap the blower motor out - it may be pulling too much current and burning out that resistor.

My repair manual tells me it's located under the wiper arms. I was going crazy looking for it. I will try under the passenger glove box tonight. Thanks!
