So I tried to put my new gearbox on today and got stuck when I tried to take the Pitman arm out of the steering linkage

Any ideas? Tried both tools that AutoZone had. Neither worked.

The Pittman arm puller didn't work? Looks like a pickle fork for ball joints but bigger i believe. We had to use an air chisel to drive it off of my friends ram. Ruined the arm that way though, we had no intentions of keeping it any way. Could give that a try. Not sure if there's a way to do it without beating the crap out if it.

Not on my Durango, but on a Jeep box I was retrofitting into a C3 Corvette, I broke two pitman arm tools I rented. Finally I borrowed one from a local machine shop...much heavier duty and higher quality. It broke the pitman arm free.

Make sure you research the torque process when re-installing the pitman arm. It has to be done right.
