Default Pull my D

Hey guys,, I am getting ready to drive my D on about 250 mile trip to pick up my 32ft motor home, I was thinking about towing my D behind the motor home so my wife won't have to drive my D,, If I use a tow dolly behind the motor home an put my D on it would it be best to drop the rear driveshaft,, I didn't know for sure if it would burn my trans up by the time I got back home,, Can't get my hands on a trailer so I have to use the tow dolly I have,,, Thanks,,

the owners manual on my 98 D says put both shifters in neutral while towing but you may want to take extra precautions and disconnect like you said

As long as the transfer case is in neutral there's no risk of damaging the transmission as no rotation will continue to it.
