Default Used Alarm Module = Security Light Problem

I have been using this Forum for a long time, since whenever I do a Google search for a Durango problem, I usually find the answer here. This is the first time I've actually had to post a question, but nothing previously posted seems to be specific enough. So....here goes. I have a 2002 Durango SLT, 5.9L with an aftermarket KARR alarm system installed by the original Dodge dealer when the car was new. I was having problems with accessories linked to the Alarm & Time Module ( rear wiper, service 4wd light, remote radio controls, etc.) and I really couldn't afford a new module right now. I was lucky enough to find a replacement module at a "pick your part" for a nominal price. I installed it and it resolved the functional issues, but as was expected, the key fobs didn't work and would have to be programmed by the dealer, along with some of the other programmable functions. One issue that also emerged was that about 30 seconds after starting the engine the "SECURITY" light would come on and stay on until the engine was shut off. The "SECURITY" light had never come on before for any reason. When I went to the dealer to reset the fobs, I gave them a list of requested settings for the programmable functions including turning off the dashboard "SECURITY" light which is part of the Vehicle Theft Security System and controlled by the Alarm Module. After the reprogramming, the fobs, alarm, rear wiper, service 4wd light, remote radio controls, etc. are all working perfectly with the exception of the "SECURITY" light which continues to stay lit while driving. The Dealer Tech said that if the Vehicle Theft Security System had been turned on in the previous vehicle, it can not be turned off and there is a conflict between what it expects to see and what it is encountering in the new vehicle, hence the light. He said that if I had put in a fresh unused Alarm Module and didn't turn on the Vehicle Theft Security System, there would be no conflict and the light would not come on. Is there anyone out there familiar enough with the programmable features of the Alarm & Time Module to confirm or deny what the Tech is saying. Am I stuck with the light or is there a protocol the Tech is unaware of to turn off the light or the Vehicle Theft Security System? I would need to request something definitive for him to do with the drbIII if I were to have him try again. Any insights would be very appreciated. Thanks

sounds like the dealer is bs-ing you. as long as you got the correct ctm module (the technical name for the body computer) they should be able to program it properly.

Default I need more than suspicions

Hi That Guy- That's what I'm thinking, but if I want them to try again to resolve it I think I need to give them something like "go to VTSS in the CTM menu and highlight advanced options....etc." or they will just say either there's a conflict between the old system and the new system or the module you put in is "used" and defective and has an anamoly we can't help you with. Thanks
