2002 Durango 46RE Shiftng Problems
I have a 2002 Durango 4x4 5.9L w/ 46RE 4speed auto 164K. A few days ago it started having a problem shifting from 3rd to 4th (overdrive) I would have to let off the gas pedal for it to shift. This would not happen every time maybe only 15-20 % of the time. I changed the filter and fluid (ATF+4), adjusted front and rear bands and the TV cable while I had it in the garage. When I took it out on a test drive it shifted great for the first 12 to 15 stop and goes then it would sometimes not shift from 2nd to 3rd without letting off the gas pedal. I have since re-adjusted the bands. Front band torqued to 72 in-lbs then backed off 2 7/8 turns and rear band torqued to 72 in-lbs and backed off 2 turns and re-checked the TV cable. But it still will not shift from 2nd to 3rd sometimes. Again about 15-20 % of the time. The rest of the time it shifts good. During a normal start it shifts from 1st to 2nd around 20-22 mph, 2nd to 3rd around 35 mph and 3rd to 4th around 45 mph. This is where it has shifted ever since I bought it about 2 1/2 years ago. I am at a lost as what t do next. I am hoping someone on here can help. Thanks for taking the time to read this and if you have any ideas please reply.
