No security light will come on when you turn the key, 2000s didn't use chip keys. ONe way to know if there's an alarm is to sit in the truck and lock it with the remote, then manually unlock and open the door from the inside, if there's an alarm it will go off, to stop it hit the unlock button with the remote.

in ALL years the alarm was optional, it was not a standard feature in the first generation trucks

also the security light would flash slowly after locking the truck with the remote, so lock the truck and watch for a security light to come on, it will also blink rapidly while it is arming (according to the owners manual in my 2002)

Well I was told that I could take it in and have dodge hook up a computer to it and activate it. That because I gave the remote that everything is there it is just not activated. Is that true

not to my knowledge, but get in touch with the user by the name of Master Tech, he is a dodge tech and will be able to tell you for sure, i would expect it to depend on which CTM is in the truck.
