Im hopeing its the lifters since im replaceing them some time tomorrow.
Been doing this since we got it. Hasnt gotten any louder or anything. just annoying. We got it in feb. given it regular oil changes. Used motor flush. still there. So I figure it must be a lifter right? I bought the tool to do it w/o removeing the cam. Anything else I should look at while im in there?
Thanks guys

My D makes a similar noise though i think less quiet. it sounds to high up to be rod knock. could it be the lifters and valves maybe? im kinda new to working on v8's ive had mainly four bangers all life. though my first car was a v6 97 mustang but it didnt last long
Theres no exhaust leak its the fan and the tick. It had a exhaust leak when we got it. Clamps rotted off. But its all good now I felt around to be sure. I find out today if it was the lifters or not. I put in the new ones and put her torgether but had to wait for a new CCV one broke off while I was removeing the vacuum hoses. Just waiting for the dealer to call.
please keep updated. my truck makes noise to and i know its not an exhaust leak. if it is the lifters how much did this job run and what all did you replace?

The lifters where 100$ the tool was 88.00$ Then I reused my valve cover gaskets with rtv. Fixxed the lifter knock however I also found another knock. It was the guide to the timeing chain on the divers side was loose. Its right under the valve covers in the front. Some of the lifters had so much play I could pull them apart.
