Question Is my Dodge Durango dying??

I have had this friend for 13 years, never so much as a cough! Now, age has begun to affect performance. I was driving home last night when the RPM gauge started to jump up and down! Accelaration was weak, I could just keep 55 mph. I checked the oil level and added some oil 10w-30. The car setteled down enough but I am still having power issues. Still cant accelarate quickly or maintain steady speed. Cruise helps but the rpm goes from 750rpm to just over 2000 rpm. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sounds like the catalytic converter may be clogged up and not letting thee exhaust out.

Sounds like you are in serious need of a tune up but, lets start with the basic info...

What motor are we talking about here??

2000 had the 4.7,5.2,or the 5,9

When was the last time you serviced the trans.
Sounds like a transmission or toque converter might be slipping to me.
Also maybe the TPS.
Good luck with it.
