Default T-stat change in 4.7l

I have read and read about changing the 195 thermostat to a 180. Did it today. My basic premise is that a cooler running engine may be a happier engine. The tranny will also benefit from this. As far as I can tell, the computer won't throw a code for the temp, but the cat and o2 sensor downstream might not be happy.

I any event, if I start getting problems, I can put the 195 back, but hope it does not go that way.

I have been told that the 4.7 were designed to run at 195 and that t start would be fine. Also have read that the only reason to change to a cooler t stat was for the 5.9 and 5.3 because they were designed to run cooler and the 195 stat was just too hot allowing cracked heads and blowing head gaskets

the 4.7 prefers a 195 deg stat as that is what it was designed to run, it also REQUIRES an OEM style stat bc most aftermarket units do not have a weep hole in them, which causes ALOT of trouble
