Default Any other ideas about a rear whining noise

Hey all just a quick question , my 01 Durango 4.7 4x4 has been making a whining noise from the rear when I take my foot of the accelerator especially around 40 mph, I asked a similar question to this last weekend but i was just curious if the problem can be anything besides a new rear dif ? Cause I really don't have the money and I've heard a rear dif and labor is around 1200 dollars ! Any other suggestions ??? I've heard maybe pinion bearings but I don't know! thanks for the help , Kameron

Do the work yourself. Probably be less than 300. Check pinion bearings and carrier bearings. not sure what else in the rear would make a whine. Check wheel bearings
