Smile P0138 Oxygen Sensor Question

Okay, I have a 2002 5.9 Durango SLT 4x4.

I am getting the P0138 code, I only have TWO oxygen sensors not four. Can anyone tell me if its the Pre or Post? I'd like to just buy one, as I went and bought two entirely wrong sensors already.

P0138 is the post cat (downstream) shorted to voltage. Stay away from Bosch.

buying certain sensors for these trucks from the dealer seems to be necessary if you want them to last, oxygen sensors happen to fall into that category.

P0138 1/2 O2S Shorted To Voltage

TNtech is incorrect, as expected from a new moderator standpoint,...Sorry.

1/2 means the PRE-CAT, meaning the drivers side O2 sensor BEFORE (up steam) the CAT. So look under your truck on the down pipe under the drivers side engine exhaust manifold, and before your CAT you will see a O2 sensor. Replace it! OEM is NTK, however I and most of the Ram section buy DESNO sensors, the OEM type and they work great. NTK will work just as good, however Desno is 1/2 price on www.rockauto.com and you can search for a coupon for 5% off using google.

I would just buy both pre-cat sensors and be done with it, besides you will get them both for about $70 bucks and have the engine purring. Same price as 1 of the Bosch piece of craps.

BTW<---- Nice to meet you NTtech, you'll get used to me!

Bank ONE, Sensor TWO is downstream. I might be a new moderator, but I do this for a living...for 21 years. Have a nice day.

Thank you for the clarification. I ordered the correct sensor from a Canadian Tire, its the NGK brand, post cat sensor. Now I am just have trouble getting the old one off. I think I may have to just swallow my pride and take it to a shop.
