Question 2003 to 2000 mirror swap

I want to add heated mirrors to my 2003 Durango. I like the looks of the larger 6x9 mirrors. So far in my searching I am finding those mirrors where used up to 2000. I would like to know if the wiring harness is the same or if I am going to have to make a mess of things?

Just find a durango with factory tow package 01-03. should be a plug behind door panel for heated mirrors as long as you have rear defrost. Factory tow package includes the 6x9 heated mirrors.

all trucks w/ the tow package got 6x9 folded tow mirrors, just find a set from the 2nd half andt he plugs will definitely match up.

the older ones will mount up to the truck no problem, however i believe that there are differences in the wiring (check with old_school, i believe he has done the research on this topic)

I can find 2003 mirrors online $85 a piece but the 2000 mirrors are $35 a piece. If I can swap them out for $70 great but if it is going to more like $170

you could also cut and rewire the plugs using the plugs from your old mirrors if they arent the same

All the truck from 98-03 used the same mirrors (mounting wise that is) the difference is the 98-00's used a 6-pin plug and the 01-03's used a 8 pin plug. Why IDK as all years used 5 wires.....go figure.

the good news is all trucks 99-03 (98's excluded) where pre-wired for the heated mirrors even if the truck did not have them. With that said you should be able to get a 01-03 set and plug them right in. They where wired into the rear defroster system.

to the OP you have to be careful ordering the 6x9 mirrors as they do make a non-heated version. You could use the 99-00 mirrors you would just have to switch plugs.
