R/T vs SLT Plus
I have the SLT+ and love it. The R/T has more horses, but the SLT has more torque. But the SLT+ really has some *****. I love to get on it every now and then. I live in Colorado Springs, and there are tons of ricer's around here, they like to race me, but I have yet to lose to one. I even whipped some guy in a mercedes the other day! These guys in there "supped" up honas! they're a joke!
I would say get the SLT+, but that's just me, I'm biased on this matter.

The R/T model has slightly more torque than the SLT model if they are both stock and has no mods. The R/T has slightly more HP and Torque because of the PCM tweaks that Dodge did on the R/T model to squeeze out that extra little bit of power. Otherwise, hardwarewise, both engines are identical. This is the specs I remember of the SLT vs R/T for the 1st generation model Durangos.
The one thing I like about the SLT is having a part time 4x4 transfer case instead of the R/T's full time 4x4 transfer case! Missed out having the ability to smoke the rear tires when you feel the need and want to do it! Plus having a partime transfer case, your gas mileage is a little better as well.
I do like the R/T's upholstery two tone color suede/leather interior vs the SLT upholstery uni-color leather interior. The R/T also has a stiffer suspension than the SLT.
Such hard choices to make.
SLT 5.9
HP 230
Torque 330-345
R/T 5.9
HP 245-250
Torque 345-350

So the PMC tweeks are all they do? I like the rear smoken tire thing. Not to mention the tire life of SLT. So will a hypertec III tweek the motor out more on a R/T or a SLT?????
And who would pull away from who?????[sm=badbadbad.gif]

Well, unless you made custom mods from the dealer for the SLT, here are more default differences between the R/T and SLT.
I think most SLT's come with a gear ratio of 3:55(2WD) or 3:73(4WD) gearing, but the R/T comes with 3:92(AWD) gearing.
I still think the SLT 5.9's may have a better launch because of all the power put into the rear wheels instead of distributing it to 4 wheels and lose a little more power thru parasitic power loss in the transfer case and extra axle.
With the hypertech/superchip reprogramming, I think the SLT 2WD and or 4WD will beat a R/T if this is the only mod mainly because the SLT is lighter and only rear wheel drive and if it had 3:73 gears instead of 3:55 gears.
Maybe it would be nice to buy an R/T but remove the full time transfer case and replace it with a part time transfer case?
